Quick Tips for a Roadside Emergency

Roadside emergencies happen every single day. With a little preparation, you can ensure that your family stays prepared in the event of an accident.

There are a few things to keep in mind in an emergency. Pull your vehicle off of the roadway. Look for an emergency lane or flat grassy area. If your vehicle is disabled, exit the car and stay a safe distance from any oncoming traffic. Use road flares or triangles so that other drivers know to slow down and be alert.

Road flares, flashlights with extra batteries, tools, water, nonperishable snacks, a first aid kit, jumper cables, reflective jackets, duct tape, a knife, and a warm blanket are all necessities. Some people also include a fire extinguisher designed for vehicles and a tire pressure gauge.
